Matt has over 20 years of experience advising major corporations, privately-held companies and founder-owned businesses on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, capital raising, and strategic transactions across a broad range of industries. Matt focuses on Digital Health at Origin Merchant Partners.
Matt brings a unique dual perspective from extensive background as both an investment banker and as an operator in the digital health industry, leveraging deep sector experience to enable a thorough understanding of company objectives, operational realities, and market dynamics.
Prior to joining Origin as a Managing Director, Matt was Head of Corporate Development for Dialogue Health Technologies, Canada’s premier virtual healthcare and wellness platform, where he led the Corporate Development function with responsibility for defining and executing on the firm’s inorganic growth strategy. Prior to joining Dialogue Health Technologies, Matt was an investment banker with extensive experience at bank-owned dealers, independent Canadian investment dealers, and independent M&A advisory firms where he focused on M&A advisory and capital raising.
Matt’s transaction experience spans purchase and sale assignments, restructuring, and valuation and special committee engagements, including:
- The sale of Dialogue Health Technologies to Sun Life Health
- Advisor to Mobile Klinik in connection with the company’s sale to TELUS
- Advisor to the Special Committee of Hydrogenics in connection with the company’s sale to Cummins
- Advisor to Mobile Klinik in connection with the company’s private placement
- Advisor to River Cree Resort and Casino in connection with the company’s refinancing and restructuring of its senior secured credit facilities and senior second lien secured notes
- Advisor to Shaw Communications in connection with the company’s sale of Shaw Tracking Omnitracs
- Advisor to The Scoular Company in connection with the company’s acquisition of the Special Crops Division of Legumex Walker
Matt holds an Honours BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University.
