TORONTO, March 5th 2025 – Origin Merchant Partners is pleased to announce the addition of 3 new professionals to the firm.
Origin welcomes Jonathan Broer (Managing Director), Chris Hind (Senior Advisor on our Advisory Board), and Robin Chakrabarti (Vancouver Entrepreneur in Residence) to our team, enhancing our capabilities in key sectors such as Environmental/Sustainability, Financial Services, Power and Utilities, and Consumer.
Jonathan Broer, Managing Director:
Jonathan joins Origin with over 25 years of experience in investment banking. Jonathan started his career with Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers in the US, then , Genuity and TD in Canada and most recently was the head of Europe & Asia-Pacific Investment Banking for TD in the UK working with clients in many industries, including financial services, energy, mining, infrastructure and technology. He has worked as a strategic advisor as well as leading numerous equity and debt financings in many markets. In the corporate world, Jonathan has led business development, sales and strategy functions, and acted as a senior strategic advisor, primarily in the energy transition sector.
Chris Hind, Senior Advisor:
Chris has more than 30 years of experience in M&A and capital raising in public and private markets as an investor, principal and corporate executive. Chris has held senior level and leadership positions as a managing director in investment banking at CIBC World Markets, a principal investor at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), a board member of several companies including Puget Sound Energy and Pattern Energy and a corporate executive. Currently, Chris is the CFO of Cordelio Power, a developer, owner, and operator of renewable power assets in North America.
Robin Chakrabarti, Vancouver Entrepreneur in Residence:
Robin brings a wealth of experience from his work at the intersection of strategy, M&A, operations, and brand growth—transforming businesses, leading teams, and driving growth across sectors. He was recently the President and CEO of Securiguard, where he spearheaded the company’s growth into Canada’s largest exclusively Canadian security and safety organization. Prior to that, Robin was President and one of the owners of Mr. Mikes Steakhouse Casual, where he and his partners acquired, revitalized, and took the 60-year-old brand national.
These appointments reflect Origin’s commitment to strengthening our advisory capabilities and expanding our reach within critical industries and into western Canada as we continue to support our clients’ objectives.
